These fabulous and enormous millipedes are commonly known as CHERRY LEG TITAN MILLIPEDES (Balustreptus falcatus) which in the wild are found in tropical mountain rainforests in Vietnam and Laos.

They are named because of their beautiful bright red legs, which in contrast with the glossy black of their body makes them strikingly beautiful!

Like almost all millipedes this species feeds on decomposing vegetation like dead leaves, rotten wood and other leaf litter components, although they are very fond of cucumber and many other fruits and vegetables. They live mainly on the forest floor but can climb really well and even stick to fingers upside down, as each of their 300ish feet have small claws which can grip surprisingly well to any textured surface!

Like all of my giant millipedes these are hugely popular with children and adults alike, as they are completely harmless to handle and their tiny claws are so gentle and tickly that they feel like a living hairbrush!
